3/A new all time favorite. I read a lot. Mostly fantasy , witchy books. This was a witch book, but it was SO MUCH MORE.
Inclusive, and filled with action, and sacrifice, and ancestral love. Please believe me when I say I was terribly sad when the story was finished. It’s so much more than a “once upon a time there were 3 witches. But it has all your favorite fables convoluted, twisiting and turning about in a different story that is about sisters (and daughters) fighting for their basic human rights in 1893. But the story FEELS modern. It feels like you could drive to the nearest big city and find these women.
Just lovely, absolutely LOVELY. It’s got women of color, trans, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and my personal favorite…a stubborn Indian woman from the Dakotas (just like me!!). The witches who burn aren’t ever the bad guys to me and this books just proves it.
FANTASTIC WORK OF FUN HISTORY.
