Kill Switch Audiobook Reviews:
1/This was a great addition to the series and definitely the darkest of the books so far. Please check TW before reading. I loved getting into Damon’s head and that his love interest is blind. The representation was wonderful, and piecing together different moments from different timelines and bacstories was really great. I also really loved seeing Damon’s softer side. BUT one major downfall. His past trauma, with his mother, was not handled, discussed, healed at all. It was referenced a lot obviously because it’s a huge part of why he is the way he is… but it’s not believable to me that he could have any healthy relationships without really facing that trauma and working on it. There was such an opportunity to really show how victims of childhood SA heal and regain their power and autonomy. None of that was done. It was like the author wanted to magically fix his issues because of him falling in love, and that’s just completely unrealistic to me. Also, (spoiler) his mom/abuser NOT being his biological mom twist at the end… it robbed him of all his agency in the eleventh hour. And that twist wasn’t even used to give him a semblance of family back at the end.
There were so many achingly sweet, heartbreaking, and action-packed moments though. I did really enjoy the book and would recommend it for lovers of dark romance, bully romance, and fans of the author. I just really wanted a little more healing and resolution for Damon’s character. I felt like he deserved a little better.
2/This was my favorite story so far. Damon is so twisted and angry and hurt. But he learned to love through Winter. I also love Will and Damon’s friendship and how they became close again with Winters help. The plot twist was good as well.
3/I could understand someone not getting into Damon because he is rough around the edges. But Douglas does a fantastic job with every nook and cranny in his life to mold him into the man he becomes. Me personally, Winter and Damon’s story is my absolute favorite. In my mind, Winter is a beautiful bombshell with a superpower (won’t give too much away). HUGE twist at the end that you wont even see coming. I have loved getting to know these characters more with each book. Buckle up, because this one is a long and crazy ride but totally worth it!
