1/Wow. What a great book. Seriously, this is the best book I have read in at least a couple of months. WARNING: Some spoilers below. If I have any complaint at all it is only that I began to think Jude was kind of dumb for not realizing sooner how much Carden cared for her. But then they had quite a past, & overall I just really enjoyed how things played out. I would absolutely pay to read a book about Madoc trying to live in the human world. I bet it would be funny. I really hope we hear more of Vivi & Heather’s love story, also. As with The Wicked King, the scheming was one of my very favorite aspects of this book. I love Holly Black’s Elfhame, & I’m so glad I already have the Modern Faerie Tales to read Kay & Roiben’s story (& other tales of Elfhame). I know that there is a duology about Oak coming out, too. Basically I loved everything about this book, but mostly Carden. His growth arc was such a joy to read, & I loved he & Jude finally realizing they are worthy of one another. Just all-around awesome.
2/Leave it to Jude to scheme her way to victory and Cardan to blow you away with his eloquence. One of the best fantasy series I’ve read.
3/Loved the book! I just wish there was a little more romance between Jude and Cardan. It was really quick in their parts together. Other than though it was absolutely a great book I would recommend.
