1/One of the best books I’ve read all year. Wang pulls you in to her world with a strong tidal wave. The pacing was a beautiful ebb and flow of past and present, mother and son, husband and wife. I could feel the authors respect for these characters come through even during their darkest traumas. The magic system was compelling without being overly compliex or coming across as derivative.
2/This book will steal you away! It has all the ingredients to capture your attention. You will not be disappointed!

3/I am not really a fan of stories of war but this book is way more than about war, swordfights, magic/powers. It’s about life, family, choices, forgiveness, understanding, discipline, control, and acceptance. I have never cheered and cried multiple times in any other book but this one. I applaud the writer for letting me see and realize … again … what living really means. I learned a lot in this book. I never regretted buying a copy of this book. Thank you so much! This is such a great work of art, my favorite book for this year.
