Dracula audiobook Reviews:
1/It had everything, true evil, suspense, faith, courage, virtue and of course love and self sacrifice. A classic and although it took me many attempts to finish I am most grateful I did.
2/I finally got around to reading (listening to) Dracula.
I have enjoyed many different vampire stories, and different renditions of this story that I felt that I was overdue to consume the original.
The voice acting, directing and production in this version was done very well.
However, I had not realized that the book is made up of letters and journal entries. I’ve personally never been a fan of this style of storytelling. World War Z is another in this style. At least I finished Dracula.
The learned Dr Van Helsing, who has presumably been teaching English students and traveling to England for years has some fairly abysmal English language skills. I thought he should be better at speaking English.
His diction is the same, even when translated through the writers of the different journal entries and letters. Could no one paraphrase? Lol.
I’m glad that I finally read this, and glad that I’ll never suffer through it again.
3/Referred to me by the Literary Life Podcast, What a delight to listen to so excellent a story from such a gifted cast of storytellers.
