1/What other rating can you give Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone?? It’s the book that launched hope in every child’s life. It launched an empire. If you were ever made fun of or treated unfairly- this got you through it all. It’s a 1000% 5-star rating.
2/I recently got into audio books and I’m loving them. I haven’t read these books since they came out and have been wanting to re-read them. Overall I’m enjoying it a lot, and it’s obviously quicker than trying to read them all again myself. 4 stars because for me personally I’m finding many of his voices to be very extra and over the top and it’s taking away from the story, for me.
3/Original for its time with great ideas, imagery and prose, this series starter is an undeniable classic. I loved the premise, the characters and the world of Hogwarts and I appreciate all this book has done in terms of getting kids excited about reading. If anything, that is this series’ greatest contribution to the world.
I won’t categorically ding this books’ brilliance, even though I do have mixed feelings about lining the pockets of a creator with some problematic views. I’m just glad I already owned the audiobooks to the series before some more problematic comments surfaced.
