1/Fascinating book by a former international hostage negotiator for the FBI. With techniques employed in high-stakes negotiations, Voss helps you hone your skills so that you are better prepared to negotiate in any situation.
Though I can’t say the narrator was my favorite, Never Split the Difference goes through a variety of techniques that Voss shares from his time with the FBI and as an educator, providing numerous examples and ending each chapter with key points to summarize a chapter’s contents in case you wish to review a certain section or technique again in the future.
In my career, I’ve often heard of this book. I am glad I read it, as plan to go back and take notes, so that I can work on putting these techniques into practice.
2/The lessons are blended with true-crime incidents. They flow naturally and you learn with the author, therefore it doesn’t feel pedantic or preachy like many self-improvement books. I recommend it.
3/I often revisit this book because there is so much knowledge and practical use techniques that I forget about and love to refresh on. Great read in general about how the human mind works and human communication works.
