Reviews:

1/I’ve been out of high school for over a decade but I still remember the couples drama and mean girls vividly. And we barely had to deal with MySpace, let alone Instagram and twitter! Suffice to say, this second book is just as endearing and engaging as the first.

Since the story starts over Christmas Break, we get to see more of the Song family outside of school. Korean traditions, their father’s dating life (or lack thereof), and various neighborhood entanglements. Margot’s back for a bit and things get settled with Josh.

Let’s be honest: we’re all here for the Peter & Lara Jean drama. They are adorable together, for the most part. But remember those mean girls? Yep, Genevieve is still into Peter…or is she?

And don’t forget, there’s another love letter that hasn’t been returned. Between nursing home volunteering (loved those old ladies!), school, and family shenanigans, Lara Jean’s love life gets more complicated. John Ambrose McLaren is a delightful addition to the story. As is Peter’s reaction to him.

Maybe I’m gullible, but I know writing is good when I’m so wrapped up that I don’t see the twists or ending coming. I’m invested in these characters and the choices they make. Yes, teens don’t communicate well and make assumptions. That’s frustrating but expected.

Oh, and the frank discussions of sex and consent were well done.

My only gripe (but not enough to take off a star) is the cursive font the letters are written in. It’s so hard to read being all tight and twisty. Yes, I’m an uncultured millennial, but it’s an unnecessary style choice. Especially for e-readers!

2/Have you watch the series on tv? Well my daughter thinks book is much better than the series. Happy she can compare and enjoy the reading!

3/Very easy to read. If you liked this read The Summer I Turned Pretty.
