THE FINAL EMPIRE audiobook Reviews:

1/I love the book! It’s amazing, I lost myself in it for hours and hours. The writing is great, the plot twists are surprising, and the imagery is fantastic! He doesn’t write romance very well, but the fight scenes and world building is stellar.

However, there are multiple references to sexual violence, threats of sexual assault, and male mutilation. The pages (on the paperback version) where these are referenced are 25, 37, 47, 48, 398, 391,392, 401, 492, 532, 620, and 626.

In case there is anyone who would prefer to skip those or to at least be alerted that those themes are referenced. It can be jarring to surprisingly see.

I’ve already bought the next one and I’m very excited to keep reading! I’d absolutely recommend – with the caveat of the references to sexual violence.

2/Really great fantasy book with a lot of action. Many twists that I didn’t expect. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

3/Sanderson is my boyfriend’s favorite author, and I started the series on his recommendation. He lent me his paperback copy of Mistborn, with the first 85 pages torn and separated from the binding… that wasn’t gonna fly. I bought this hardcover edition as a gift to him, but also a gift to myself–turns out reading is a more enjoyable experience when you don’t have to worry about losing a good chunk of the pages!

Man, I was blown away by this book. If you’re a fantasy fan, you’ll enjoy the completely unique and intelligently crafted magic system. I loved seeing the unique applications in different fights. The plot was a page-turner which left me eager to keep reading, and everything was wrapped up in a satisfying, well-earned ending. Thoroughly enjoyable read that I will recommend to my friends.
