Reviews:

1/I made a mistake of watching the Netflix show which I fell in love with. I found out that there is a book of this show to which I HAD to read. Knowing that the book had far more details then the show excited me. When I read the book, I new I made the right chose. There were so much information that the show failed to include. As I was reading the book I just couldn’t put it down. I’ve read this book several times only because in my opinion, it was written beautifully. The small side notes were so important to me. The small brief history of characters, houses, everything, was beautiful. Yes most may find it boring because how thick the book is, but I found it to be one of the best books I’ve ever read. If you love to read well written books then you should definitely read this. I just wish she wrote more.

2/This is a beautiful book that seems tailor-made for smoking an old pipe on a rainy day and sitting in a comfortable chair. It is a story of magic.

I will say that if you are like me, someone who grew up seeking out the thickest books in the store just to get more “bang” for my limited bucks, you may think that you’re prepared for Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and you certainly are. But the book does /feel/ long and sometimes that can make it a bit of a slog. It’s not a fault of the author or the writing or anything of that nature, it’s just that there’s much that needs to be shown and no one can eat ice cream every night without a stomach-ache. You may reach a point when the book seems to be taking forever and isn’t addressing the plot aspect that you want to see resolved and it’s tempting to put the book aside and pick up a 250-pager.

If you reach this point, take courage and press on. You’ll be rewarded with a story that will stay with you for years.

Kindle Edition specific: No formatting issues, no typos that I could notice, and it looked good to read on the Kindle.

3/This is an engaging and entertaining fictional story of magic that takes place in early 19th Century England. There is some history, some fantasy, and suspense. I loved it! A unique idea for a story. I highly recommend you read this book, then go buy the miniseries, which is equally good and true to the story.
