1/This is the beautiful conclusion to the story which began with Parable of the Sower. I read that Butler was planning to write more books and was afraid that the story would feel incomplete. But it feels complete and like a natural end point. I’m grateful for that because the books are so deeply meaningful.
2/This book was throughly engrossing and insightful. Prayerfully the worse of it will not come to be, but it is instructive.
3/This is a gripping story that draws so many parallels with the past 5 years. It’s interesting how even in speculative fiction there is truth. Many of us fail to see the future as a tangible thing that we can affect in the present. But this story right here, this story maps out a tangible account of the human experience from the perspective of a forward thinking artist like Ms. Butler. My take away is that we shouldn’t hide what makes us different even in the face of persecution. There’s a seed in all of us waiting to grow, bloom, and pollinate amongst the rest of the world and even the stars. No one way is the right way to explore these concepts and if we fail to reach for the stars we’ll never know how far we could have gone. I enjoyed this series.
