1/Things are not going well on the new Killik world if Woteba, and the Dark Nest is peddling a potent organic drug to buy Tibana gas and fuel cells. Raynar (Unu-Thul) feels betrayed by the Jedi because of a strange “fizz” outbreak on his nee world. Luke and Han visit to placate Raynar and the Killiks but wind up becoming trapped on Woteba and prisoners after discovering the Dark Nest’s plotting. Gorog mind-wipes Raynar and makes him a tool again. Alema Rarr is fully a brainwashed joiner, called the Dark Prophetess.
Haven visits Tenel Ka on Hapes and discovers that he is now a father. He has to protect his child from a Killik assassination attempt. Ben Skywalker demonstrates he has been compromised by Gorog, and Jacen causes the old plotting queen to have a stroke after learning all her dealings with the Dark Nest. He then leads a Jedi strikeforce to provoke an attack by the Chiss. He has a vision of the Killiks spreading all over the galaxy in an “eternal war” brainwashing other species into joiners. He determines to stop it. His paternal ends justifying his somewhat brutal methods.
Luke and Han discover a plot to slip disguised Killiks onto Galactic Alliance military ships, they escape Woteba but not in time. The Fifth Fleet is under attack by a fleet of Nest ships and from within. The killiks manage to capture the capitol ship, Ackbar. Leia faces off with brainwashed and deranged Alema. Luke fights Lomi Plo (dark Jedi) on the Gorog Nest Ship.
Lol I demonstrates some unique force abilities: making herself invisible to the eye, draining electrical or mechanical devices of power (including lightsabers and starships). Luke only gets one look at her, gruesome… Her face is badly burned/melted from the crash in the Yuuzahn Vong War, and she has her eyes and lower jaw replaced with Killik parts…
Mara rescues Luke and Han from the Dark Nest ship, and the GA Gotham Admiral, Bwa’tu notes that a new war has begun. All ships open fire on the Killik nest ships…
I was a little annoyed by how Luke is so thoughtful to look out for small side-characters (Cpt Junn and Tarfang) during a lightsaber duel with darksider he cannot see! I mean come on guys, fate of the universe stuff here, priorities! I hate to say it, but if a few side characters go down to stop a dark Jedi mastermind or the Dark Nest, so be it! But that’s not the Jedi way 😉 I guess Master Skywalker is just following his conscience
One final note, Chief of State, Cal Omas, managed to divide the Jedi Order by appointing Coran Horn as Luke’s temporary replacement in order to bring the Jedi under better control, or at least put them in disunity on the sidelines… Oih, politicians never change. Since the fall of the Old Republic, they have always sought to subjugate and command the Jedi, or exile and eliminate them
2/As always the starwars eu is well written and has a great plot line. Worthy to be read over and over again.
3/i love these books..even if they are not canon anymore.
