1/The book spent a lot of time with character development. The plot is still good, but it took a long time to get there. Robert Jordan is a great author and I cannot wait to continue the journey. Overall I have enjoyed the story. I did miss Perrin in this book.
2/Wheel of Time fans will not be disappointed with book five: “The Fires of Heaven”. It is full of gripping drama, epic battles, intriguing twists, humorous episodes, and several showdowns with prominent villains. Rand, Mat, and Nynaeve feature prominently, and while they essentially remain the lovable characters we met in Emond’s Field, they each evolve in unique ways into the powerful heroes their world requires. The story takes a few hundred pages to really get going, but we’re used to that by now, and considering this one contains not just one but three major climaxes, I’d say it’s well worth the initial struggle.
