Reviews:

1/I didn’t know what to expect when starting this book, but I wasn’t expecting to love this! The story is a great thriller/mystery that kept me on my toes. I’m excited to read the next book in the series now!

2/This was an exceptional read for a YA fiction book. For once, it kept my guessing throughout the whole book and left me on a cliffhanger for book two in the series.

What would you do if you suddenly inherited billions of dollars with no rhyme or reason why you inherited it?

That is what our main character Avery was thinking when she was told that she inherited a fortune from the Hawthorne family.

Avery is an orphan living in and out of her car and sometimes with her half sister Libby. On the times that Libby’s jerk of a boyfriend is not living there.

Going to school and playing chess with a homeless man in the park. Then one day, she was yanked from school and carted along with Libby to a will reading of Tobias Hawtorne. I was left with all the estate, the charity foundation and all the money.

Nothing was really left with the direct family members. The Hawthorne grandsons. Who is trouble in itself.

What Avery didn’t realize is that this was all a big game that the late Tobias Hawthorne had set up. And she is meant to play. A game that the Hawthorne brothers are playing as well.

With danger looming in the halls of the Hawthorne estate and the mystery surrounding the game. She needs to solve the mystery to understand why there is a game with her in the middle of it.

Lately, I haven’t been drawn to many YA fiction books because sometimes, the main characters are a little immature for my reading taste. Oh and the drama, not my cup of tea. But this book had a little bit of that, but not in an obnoxious way that made you want to roll your eyes.

I didn’t see a lot of things coming and I was consistently in the dark of what is going to happen next. I truly enjoyed this book to the full extent. I can’t wait to read the next book and see how else this game with the Hawthone brothers will unfold.

3/You can’t skip, you can’t cheat, you must stay with Avery every step of the way. Because nothing is as you think. The Hawthorns, are complex, oren is the only norm and he is her bodyguard. Libby is her sister, but can she be trusted. You will not want to put this book down. I am ready for book two. Hope you will soon be too.
