1/There are a couple of things I’m not even going to comment on. But I saw them coming. And they didn’t change much for me emotionally because I’ve already resigned myself to…well, accepting that certain choices being made are not going to change how I feel.
There is a lot going on in this book, so much so that I need a cork board to figure it out.
I’m in an odd position where my favorite character…I’m deeply concerned for. He’s not going to die. Mostly because he’s in the W&W books, which take place after this one. And also because I’m reasonably assured that he’ll make it to the very end of the cosmere. And then probably die. He’s my favorite. Therefore, he must die.
Well, he’s not my only favorite. My sweet murder child shows up and takes a bite out of the unbiteable. But I’m not concerned with him either.
This book is long enough that it almost requires a part by part assessment for the review. I will say that there were a couple of sections where they actually felt long. But also, in a book of this size? For it to have…probably not even ten parts of distinct slowing is impressive.
It’s the end of the world and we’re playing with gods and monsters. And unchained magic. And a lot of emotional and mental problems.
There are just a lot of problems. And there are a lot that get solved. And a lot more that get a lot worse.
2/It was good the first time, now reading it for the third time I’m getting even more enjoyment out of it than before. Wonderful, fantastic writing.
3/It’s a slow satisfying read that I had to come back to again and again. I would take short breaks to read other things, and then I’d go right back to this one.
